Petroleum Product Receipt and Discharge
How petroleum product is received into and discharged from a terminal, with measurement, sampling and records.
Before arrival
The terminal needs to know the product, quantity, expected arrival and mode. For vessels and barges, berth slots are agreed; for pipeline, a batch schedule; for trucks, loading windows.
Measurement and sampling
Quantity is measured on arrival and departure, by tank gauging, flow meters or both, with corrections for temperature. Samples are drawn and retained so any later quality question can be checked against the original.
Records
Each receipt and discharge produces a record of quantity and quality that both parties rely on. Clear records shorten disputes and make reconciliation straightforward.
